Finally in my room, which had three beds, I sat and surveyed things. The pillows from the two empty beds were relocated onto mine, though I knew I'd wake up with them strewn on the floor, and me lying quite comfortably on the pillowless bed.

I unpacked slowly, and thoughtfully set aside my warm clothes for the next day, not that there was much especially thoughtful in any of it, but the contemplation and deliberateness that I did it with made me think so. My mind was working in low gear after hours of driving and singing loudly to the Weakerthans.
