For the incredible amount of people who participated in the protest, the amount of garbage left behind was incredibly small. Trash cans were filled, but this was the most trash I saw on the ground anywhere, and ironically, and perhaps fittingly, it is in front of George Washington University's mascot, the hippo.
George Washington University treated the protesters with disdain, and stole the rights of students away from them by locking down the dorms (only allowing people who lived in them enter), not allowing people in any university building who didn't have a student ID, and most shockingly, allowing National Guard and policemen into buildings to take breaks and eat. GW's support for the police element is a strong statement about where their interests lie, and who they side with despite the support of the protests by hundreds of students.
